Clean and plan
If you have not already, starting with a clean house is a smart thing to do before all of your belongings are put away. From one end of the home, work your way down, room by room. Anything that needs cleaning, including floors, walls, windows, skirting boards and benches. Before unpacking the boxes, make sure that every piece of furniture is where you want it to be.
Planning out exactly how you want the room to look like will make unpacking the boxes much easier for you. Before leaving your old home, make an essentials box for each room of your new home. This saves you a lot of time when you unpack. These will be the first boxes you unpack as they are the most-used items. Start with the bedrooms and the bathrooms because chances are you are going to want to use those pretty soon.

Make a deadline and make sure to be tidy as you go
Once your home is clean, your furniture is where you want it to be and the essentials are all unpacked, the hard part begins. You have to create that urgency to keep yourself on track and unpack all of the boxes. Pick a date that is reasonable for you, mark it on the calendar, and stick to it!
Unpack a room, place everything in its place, remove the rubbish, then go onto the next room. It is easy to get carried away and before you know it, your home becomes a mess of cardboard and packing peanuts. Go room by room when packing and cleaning.
Make a plan, and do not beat yourself up if it takes a little longer than you expected. Once you are all done unpacking, it is time to sit back and enjoy your new home!
