-Inform the following about the change of address: Family and friends, Mobile service provider, Credit card company and Bank, Subscription services
-Update Electoral office about change of address
-Update drivers license and car registration
Cleaning and decluttering
-Declutter and throw away any unneeded items
-Clear your kitchen and start using up all of the food
-Go through your things in the garage, the garden and storage
-Gather medical records
Visualising and preparing your new home
-Create a furniture floor plan of your new place
-Confirm the real estate agents key collection date
-Set up utilities in your new property
Packing
-Start packing items you that wont be using before your move
-Buy packing material, for example: moving boxes, bubble wrap, tape

One Week Before Moving Day
Prepping the house
-Finish packing
-Keep extra curtains, bedsheets and towels ready for the move. These items will probably be immediately necessary.
-Pack up machines like scanners and printers
Setting up the new home
-Formally inspect the new house
-Confirm the set up of your utilities in your new home
One Day Before Moving House
At home
-Unplug your fridge
-Drain liquid from washing machine, ice makers etc.
-Take note of your meter readings
-Charge your electronics
-Lock all the windows and doors in your home
-Double check your storage, garden, shed and garage
-Return all the keys from your old home
Moving Day
For your old home
-Take the movers on a tour of the house and give instructions
-Make sure your essentials boxes are accessible
-Keep important things on you ie: phone, keys etc.
-Take out the rubbish
-Leave forwarding address at the mailbox
-Ensure home is locked up

-Tell the movers exactly where to park and where to unload
-Make sure that the movers have access to your new home
At your new home
-Check that all of your utilities have been connected
-Before singing off with movers, double check that all of your items have been delivered
-Take photos of the new place if it is a rental property and check if anything was left behind by previous tenants
-Assemble your bed first, then the kitchen, bathroom, and other rooms
-Keep your important documents in a safe place
-Take photos of your meter readings
-Before letting your children and pets play outside, make sure that the interior and that the garden is safe
-Plan your unpacking so that you do a little each day rather than all at once.
-Greet your new neighbours
After Moving In
Once everything has been moved in
-Set up the heater, air conditioner, or hot water system first if necessary.
-Make your bedroom and bathroom a priority because restful sleep and cleanliness are essential.
-To prevent mess and confusion, open 1-2 boxes at a time in the kitchen
-Plug in all necessary appliances, such as washing machines
-Flatten all cardboard boxes and set them aside. After use, you might sell the boxes.
